Hi, I’m Collin.

I’m obsessed with audio production.

It’s what I do all day long. It’s all I want to talk about (ask my wife). It’s the reason I get up in the morning and the reason I’m rarely in bed before 1am.

I work with artists, non-profits, corporate clients, hobbyists and professionals alike.

More About Me

I started this crazy journey as a singer/songwriter. As a kid, I was busking on the streets of my hometown of Vancouver, WA and making amateur recordings in my parents’ basement. In college, my interest expanded into doing sound design and composing for musical theatre.

Indiana

In my second year of college, I got the part of “Young Woody Guthrie” in a touring production of the musical “Woody Guthrie’s American Song”. The tour took me from Portland, OR to the rural farmlands of Indiana. After the tour ended, I took a job at the Muncie Civic Theatre. There, I became their resident sound designer and would later debut my first full length musical: Bridges.

After two years, I returned to Portland, where I became an accompanist and instructor at Northwest Children’s Theatre. I continued to work as a sound designer and composer and eventually NWCT debuted my second full length musical Two Lads Of Liverpool.

Chicago

That year, I met my wife Amy, who whisked me off to Chicago, where I worked for Chicago Children’s Theatre. I wrote the songs for their acclaimed production Red Kite Round Up. When we finished, the director wanted to make a cast recording— this was the first professional album I ever produced.

Within a month, I was working three nights a week at Waterdog Recording Studios and every weekend at the infamous Double Door rock club.

Washington, DC

After a year and a half in Chicago, Amy and I moved to Washington, DC. Here, I expanded as a live engineer and was quickly working at such venues as the 930 Club, 18th Street Lounge, Fillmore and Kennedy Center.

I served for two years as the audio coordinator for UMD’s Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, followed by three years as house sound engineer and assistant technical director at GW’s historic Lisner Auditorium.

Lost In Transduction

In 2016, I earned my certification as an Avid Pro Tools Expert instructor and began teaching courses in audio production at DC’s Future Media Concepts. That same year, I formed my company Lost In Transduction, with a focus on remote recording, mixing and mastering.

The company demanded more and more of my attention and, in 2017, I left my position at Lisner to focus on studio work exclusively. Since then, I have been mixing out of my home studio full time and working as a producer and recording engineer at major studios throughout the DC area.

Amy and I now live in NE DC with our son, two cats and way too many guitars.
